WhatsApp can crash on mobile phones.
People can send long emoji messages which could crash the app and shut down phones, a security researcher has found out.
If the web version of WhatsApp is used to send a message with about 5,000 emoji, the person that gets the message on the mobile app, their app ill crash and then force it self to shut down.
You can carry on using the app, but the only way to do so is by deleting the message history then open the conversation up again.
WhatsApp does have a character limit. The app will start to slow down at around 4.500 messages but, people can send up to 6,000.
The issues seems to only affect the Android version of WhatsApp. The are caused with the iOS version, but the app doesn’t crash it entirely.
