What's new with Alexa this week?

Happy Friday! Let's see what's new with Amazon's Alexa

Let's take a look at what's new with Amazon's Alexa this week. If you find something you want to try out, go for it!

"Alexa, what's the weather like today?" You can also ask Alexa to tell you the weather for your current location, or for a location(s) of your choice.

Alexa can set alarms. Just say "Alexa, set an alarm for 6pm", for example. Alexa can set alarms for the weekend, weekdays and, for pretty much any day really. To stop the alarm when it's going off, just say: "Alexa, stop".

Alexa can make announcements to other Echo devices in your home, or wherever you may be. All you have to do is say: "Alexa, announce 'dinner's ready". And she will. It'll be sent to all your connect Echo devices.

If you're a TV buff and don't want to reach for the TV remote to find out what's on now, or later in the day - you don't have to. Alexa can fill you in on what's on the TV. You'll need to enable the TV Choice skill. Just say: "Alexa, what's on the TV'. Or "Alexa, TV Choice". She'll fill you in on what's on TV on some of the biggest channels such as BBC, ITV and Channel 5. She'll also tell you the hit hits that you should be watching. The X Factor, Doctor Who and The Cry and just some examples.

Turn your smart plugs and lights on and off with Alexa. You will have to connect your various accounts (e.g. Philips Hue) to Alexa and then you can control them. Your plug and lights will have names so you can say to Alexa, for example, "Alexa, turn off desk lamp." "Alexa, turn off The Lights".
