Amazon Alexa gets a Newscaster Voice update

A brand new feature is here

Amazon Alexa users will know that its vital virtual assistant is always getting software and other updates to assist you even more with all types of tasks and each update also provides more functionality than before.

Its latest update is related to reading you the news headlines.

You can ask Alexa to read the news by saying various different commands:

"Alexa, what's the latest?", "Alexa, read the news", "Alexa, what's in the news?", "Alexa, read my flash briefing".

Alexa now dons a brand new "Newscaster" voice for when its owner asks the clever assistant to read the daily news. This was announced by Amazon back in November last year and is now being rolled out to Alexa smart-speakers in the USA.

Amazon have said that this brand new feature will give the news a more natural sounding voice and will also show that Alexa does not on;y have one voice and one tone, that is heard pretty much all the time and it shows that Alexa can adapt her speaking style, depending on what is being said.

Amazon have not yet stated when the newscaster feature will be arriving to our smart assistants in the UK. It is currently only available in the US.
