Take a look at what's new with Amazon's Alexa this week
We've not published one of these for a while. Keep on reading to find out some new commands for the Amazon Alexa range of products. We'll also be revealing the most requested commands too.
Alexa can read poems to you
One of the newest Alexa skills is her ability to read poems. She can read a lot of them. For example: “Alexa, tell me a poem about beans.”
Do Not Disturb
When the 'Do Not Disturb' mode is enabled, Alexa will not disturb you. You can set automatic timers for when this happens or turn it on and off when you please. Only alarms and timers that are set will sound. You also won't receive any calls or messages.
How many days...?
Alexa can countdown to events and tell you how many days are until a big event, such as Easter or Christmas. Just say: "Alexa, how many days until Christmas?" and she'll tell you!
Most requested
Now we take a look at the most requested questions and actions that Alexa has had to provide examples and answers for recently.
1. Current affairs question: “Alexa, what is Brexit?”
2. Lunar phase: “Alexa, when is the next full moon?”
3. Local search: “Alexa, what films are playing near me?” - to do this, Alexa needs access to your current location. To set this up, go over to the Alexa app, select the Devices icon in the bottom right-hand corner, select Echo & Alexa and finally, select your Echo device > add your address under Position.
