Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are back online after global outage

The Facebook "family of apps", which include WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, are finally back up and running after yesterday's global outage.

All services are back to normal and can now be accessed again, however, it has taken Facebook almost a full day to publish a statement to inform us of what happened.

The disruption lasted for more than 14 hours.

In a statement, Facebook said:

"Yesterday, as a result of a server configuration change, many people had trouble accessing our apps and services. We've now resolved the issues and our systems are recovering. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone’s patience."

This message was also posted on its official Twitter account: @facebook.

Thankfully, this major issue has been resolved. Taking a look at some of the comments and replies users posted on Twitter in reply to Facebook's post, people, especially business owners were not happy as they'd paid for adverts that no one would be able to see and they were unable to post about new products or answer questions.
