ITV Hub has been replaced with ITV's new streaming service: ITVX
Today marks the launch of ITV's new shiny streaming service, ITVX, which was first rolled out on 17 November 2022 before officially launching today on 8 December 2022.
ITVX has been branded 'the UK's freshest streaming service' by ITV. ITVX replaces ITV Hub, which is the online streaming service previously used to watch ITV's live linear TV channels (ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, ITVBe and CITV), on-demand TV, movies and more. ITV Hub was available on most smart TVs, set-top boxes and gaming consoles.
"At launch, viewers will have access to over 10,000 hours of content", say ITV. "ITVX will also drop new and exclusive programmes every week of the year", ITV also say.
As with ITV Hub, ITV's linear channels can be streamed through the ITVX app on mobile devices and smart TVs. Whereas ITV Hub was accessible on many smart TVs, when ITVX was introduced, ITV Hub was removed from some Samsung smart TVs, for example, and ITVX has not appeared in its place.
ITVX has its own themed channels, which can be accessed via the 'Live' section of the website and app. The themed channels (also known as FAST channels [Free ad-supported streaming television]) currently available to stream on ITVX are:
- Classic Movies
- Xmas Movies
- The Chase
- Classic Comedy
- Midsomer Murders
- True Crime International
- Love Island
- Out of this World
- Hell's Kitchen
- Saturday Night Every Night
- World of Morse
- ITV Signed
- Vera
- Love Island International
- The Only Way Is Essex TV
- Crime Drama
- ITV Classics
- The Real Housewives UK
- Loved Up
- Unwind With ITV1
In a media release post on ITV Media, ITV say it will "adopt a digital first windowing strategy", meaning "much of its new content" will premier first on ITVX and will then be shown "months later on ITV linear channels".
This is great if the device you are using to stream ITVX on supports ITVX, otherwise you may be out of the picture when your friends are talking about the latest TV shows drama series that have dropped on the service.
