It's about time
9to5Google reported Google have filed to trademark the name 'Pixel Watch'. We're not surprised Google has come with the name 'Pixel Watch' as this will co-inside nicely with its 'Pixel' lineup of smartphones.
The paperwork says the trademark registration of 'Pixel Watch' name "registration is intended to cover the categories of smartwatches; cases adapted for holding smartwatches; wearable computers in the nature of smartwatches; smartwatch straps; smartwatch bands."
This suggests we could be seeing accessories such as straps, bands and cases for the 'Pixel Watch'. Very unsurprising, really, as this is what we would expect when a new product lunches.
'Pixel Watch' will be the first party smartwatch running Wear OS, from Google. Currently, Wear OS can be seen in other smartwatches, such as some Pebble smartwatches, that use Google's Wear OS as its operating system.
The upcoming 'Pixel Watch' will now finally mean Google Pixel smartphone owners can have their own first party watch from Google, as Google intended the watch to be, just like Samsung's Galaxy Watch lineup.
The 'Pixel Watch' has a lot to live up to in this ever-growing market, so let's hope it does.
We'll bring you more news on when the 'Pixel Watch' is set to be launched, when we have it.
