From Tuesday 31 December, WhatsApp will stop working on all Windows Phone smartphones. WhatsApp, which is a free messaging app for smartphones running Windows Phone, iOS and Android have said in a blog post:
"“You'll no longer be able to use all Windows Phone operating systems after December 31, 2019". They also said WhatsApp might not be available to download from the Microsoft Store after 1st July 2019.
As well as the app no longer functioning on Windows Phones, it'll also stop working on Apple's iPhone that are running an older version of the iOS operating system: iOS 8 (and older). This will take effect from 1 February and will stop users from logging in using existing accounts or from creating brand new ones.
The same also applies to smartphones running Android 2.3.7 or older.
