The Weeknd has hit a new record on music and podcast streaming service Spotify

Spotify have confirmed The Weeknd has become the first artist to hit 100 million monthly listeners on the music and podcast streaming service.

The Weeknd's real name is Abel Tesfaye who was born in Toronto. The Weeknd has had many hits over the years. His 'Love Me Harder' duet with Ariana Grande and 'I Can't Feel My Face', released in the 2010s, which is a Michael Jackson inspired disco track.

This isn't the only record Tesfaye holds on the streaming service, though. 'Blinding Lights', released in 2019, holds the record for the most played song on Spotify, which has been played 3.4 billion times.

The Weeknd has only just re-released his 2016 track 'Die For You' as a remix with Ariana Grande. And this isn't the first time Grande and The Weeknd have teamed up together. They first teamed up together for Grande's 'Love Me Harder', released in 2014 on Ariana Grande's second studio album, 'My Everything'. They then collaborated again in 2020 for 'Off The Table' for Ariana Grande's 'Positions' album and then again in 2021 a remix of The Weeknd's 'Save Your Tears'.

The Weeknd has released five studio albums, the most recent being 'Dawn FM', released in January 2022, and the debut being 'House Of Balloons'.
