Twitter warn some of your Direct Messages could be exposed

Twitter has informed a number of users that their private messages may have been leaked to third parties for over a year.

The social networking site have not said how many users have been affected by this software 'bug'. Twitter have said the bug has been fixed.

Not all private - Direct Messages - messages will have been leaked. It'll have only been those to businesses that offer customer service and support, such as a online shopping or food brand, for example.

Users are being notified about the issue when logging onto Twitter's website or opening the app. This only applies to those affected.

Although we don't know how many were affected by this incident, Twitter has said in a statement, that it happen to "fewer than 1%" of its total user base.
