There's a new Dark Mode for YouTube's app - here's how to enable it

Learn how to enable the new Dark Mode feature for the YouTube app

Google's rolled out a new feature which means you can change the current white background to dark, instead.

This new mode is called 'Dark Mode'. Last year, YouTube gave us the ability to do this on the desktop and laptop version of its site, although it was somewhat hidden.

This new feature for YouTube's mobile applications will be available on both iOS and Android.

To use this new feature on YouTube's apps, you'll need to make sure you have the latest version. If you have automatic updates enabled, this shouldn't be a problem as your apps will update without you having to do anything.

If you don't have automatic app updates enabled, you'll need to head to the Google Play Store or the App Store and update the YouTube app.

Enable on iOS:

1. open the YouTube app

2. in the top right corner, tap your account profile picture

3. tap the Settings option

4. scroll and find the Dark Mode option

5. toggle Dark Mode 'On'

Enable on Android

1. open the YouTube app

2. tap your account profile picture in the top right hand corner

3. tap the Settings option

4. select 'General'

5. toggle the Dark Mode tab to 'On'
